Pindon is a chemical compound and is used to fight rats and other rodents . It belongs to the group of indane derivatives.
use
Like other indane derivatives such as chlorophacinone, pindone is used to control voles or to treat rabbits in garden areas.
effect
Pindon acts as an anticoagulant in rats and causes internal bleeding. Only large doses are fatal, whereby the fatal effect can have fatal consequences that lead to death. In terms of pharmacological effects, it has already been established that pindone is similar to the coumarin derivative warfarin , although pindone is more of the indane type. But it is mainly used to treat rabbits.
Toxicology and Antidote
Large oral doses cause profuse internal bleeding in humans, with fatal consequences. The lethal dose in rats is 280 mg / kg body weight. Typical symptoms of intoxication are: severe abdominal pain, headache, frequent bloody diarrhea, frequent blood-irritant coughing, cramps, broken bones, internal bleeding, natural feelings of suffocation and shortness of breath, which really occur. Most people die from internal bleeding and fatal kidney failure. Vitamin K is already used as an antidote for pindone poisoning.
Admission
