The Piz Miez ( Rhaeto-Romanic for 'middle peak' from the Latin medius ) or Cimalmotta ( Italian cima , German 'summit', and motta for 'hill') is a mountain south of Innerferrera on the border between the Swiss canton of Graubünden and the Italian province Sondrio with a height of 2835  m above sea level. M. southeast of the summit is the Lago di Lei .

Location and surroundings

The Piz Miez is the northernmost peak of the Piz Timun chain, a subgroup of the Oberhalbsteiner Alps . The border between the municipality of Ferrera , Canton of Graubünden , Switzerland , and the Italian province of Sondrio runs above the summit . The neighboring peak in the south is the Piz dil Crot . Even further south are the Pizzo Crotto , the Piz della Palù and the Piz Timun .

The Dufourspitze, 135.8 km away, is visible to the southwest . The farthest visible point ( 45 ° 37 '48.6 "  N , 7 ° 54' 51.6"  O ) is located 320 meters south of the Monte Mars ( Alpi Biellesi ) on the boundary between the Valle d'Aosta and Biella ( Piedmont ) and is 151.9 km away.

To the southeast of the mountain is the Lago di Lei .

The valley is Innerferrera . A frequent starting point is the dam of the Lago di Lei.
