The Planai (also Schladming Kaibling ) is the local mountain and the slopes in Schladming . The summit is at 1906  m above sea level. A. between the Hauser Kaibling in the east and the Hochwurzen in the west.

Skiing

Together with the Hochwurzen, the Planai forms the center of the Schladming 4-mountain ski area and the Planai / Hochwurzen ski area , which lies at an altitude of 745 to 1906  m . The Hauser Kaibling and the Reiteralm are connected to the two ski mountains . Together, the four mountains form a ski swing with 124 kilometers of slopes and 47 cable cars.

There are also two World Cup courses on this mountain . The western one, Planai , has the same name as the mountain and is regularly used for World Cup races. The eastern, Streicher , was first raced at the 2012 World Cup final. Both slopes were the scene of the 2013 Alpine World Ski Championships .

Mountain bike sport

Planai mountain railways with a downhill mountain biker on board

The Planai bike park is a magnet for downhill and 4 -cross mountain bikers in summer . Since 2004, all years of guest appearances Mountain Bike World Cup in Schladming, where the "4Cross" contest on a Saturday night with floodlights on the final slope of the Planai as a night race will be held before lunch on Sundays from the middle station to the valley at the downhill competition for World Cup -Points is fought.

Summer attraction

In summer the Hopsiland opens below the summit, named after Hopsi, the World Cup mascot of the Alpine Ski World Championships in 1982. The Hopsiland is an excursion destination, especially for smaller children, with a circular route of 1.5 km, known as the highest playground in Styria.
