Pop's sounding wonder world
Pops sounding wonderland was a two-hour radio show that since 1987 by Radio Bremen produced. The moderator was Joachim Deicke . On September 25, 2011, the program was broadcast for the last time after 24 years with a four-hour special edition.
The program contained bizarre stories, remarks on everyday life and music from the fields of rock , pop and world music with a focus on lesser-known artists .
In addition to the moderator, the fictional protagonist Paul Eduard Poplinski, also known as "Paul E. Pop" for short, played an important role, whose letters were read in the second hour of the program. By the end of the broadcast in September 2011, more than 90 adventures by Paul E. Pop had appeared on the radio.
The program was broadcast in the first few years on Radio Bremen Vier , from October 1, 1995 on Radio Bremen Eins (until 2001: Hansawelle ). With a few exceptions, the program was regularly broadcast weekly (1990: bi-weekly). The 1000th program ran on October 14, 2007.
The broadcast was also (temporarily) taken over by other radio programs: Funkhaus Europa from Westdeutscher Rundfunk (1999–2000), DT64 (1992–1993), MDR Sputnik (1993–1999), Radiomultikulti from Sender Freies Berlin (1994–2005), radio 3-fold (2001) and Radio Lotte (2001-2004).
Pop Ins
The listeners of the program have spread around the whole planet and heard the program largely via satellite or had radio recordings broadcast. The very lively contact between the listeners takes place via the Internet, in addition to “pop ins”, the meeting of three or more “pop friends”. There is also a mailing list, which has over 350 members, and a webring that brings together the various websites of the listeners.
- The biggest "Pop In" took place annually from 2000 to 2006 in Rotenburg an der Wümme , where up to 400 pop comrades met for a Caribbean party ("Knatterparty").
- In August 2002 a "Pop In" took place in Dresden on the banks of the Elbe.
- On April 30, 2008, a “Pop In” was held in Weimar to mark the opening of the pop exhibition.
- The first "Pop In" after the program was discontinued took place on the 25th anniversary of the first broadcast about one year after the last broadcast on October 6, 2012 in Bremen.
- On the 30th anniversary of the first broadcast, around 20 pop comrades met on October 8, 2017 for a "pop-in" in Bremen.
