The Rheinhessen Post Museum was opened on June 15, 2002 in the former post office in the town hall of the Erbes-Büdesheim community . It is run by the Association for Postal History Rheinhessen e. V. operates and provides information about the history of the post in Rheinhessen with its exhibition and occasional lectures . The exhibits on display come mainly from private collections, liquidations of former post offices and permanent loans from the Museum Foundation Post and Telecommunications .

Since the museum is run privately, with the regular opening days on the limited International Museum Day , Ascension Day , the Heritage Day and on the penultimate Sunday of August (notch in Erbes-Büdesheim). There is also an extra opening for registered groups; Guided tours are offered.

The former local mayor and CDU member of the state parliament, Heinz-Hermann Schnabel, is one of the best-known members of the Post Museum's friends' association .

Exhibits

Documents, photos and objects related to the topic of postal and telecommunications are exhibited . This also includes a stagecoach from the former archive of the Museum Foundation Post and Telecommunications.
