Pottsville is a city in Schuylkill County in the US state of Pennsylvania . It is the county seat of Schuylkill County and is located on the banks of the Schuylkill River .
As of the 2000 census, the city had a population of 15,549. It occupies an area of 10.9 km².
Pottsville is home to the Yuengling Brewery , which was founded in 1829 and claims to be the oldest brewery in the United States.
