Pozzo della Chiana is a district ( fraction , Italian frazione ) of the Italian municipality of Foiano della Chiana in the province of Arezzo in Tuscany .

geography

The place is about 4.5 km north of the capital Foiano della Chiana, about 20 km southwest of the provincial capital Arezzo and about 70 km southeast of the regional capital Florence in the northern Chiana Valley . The place is at 312  m slm , is the most populous district of Foiano della Chiana and had 774 inhabitants in 2001. In 2011 there were 828 inhabitants, 1551 around 300 inhabitants and in 1833 there were 1370 inhabitants. The closest place is Marciano della Chiana , it is about 2 km northwest. The churches of Pozzo della Chiana are in the diocese of Arezzo-Cortona-Sansepolcro .

The Church of San Biagio
  • San Biagio , church in the town center, built in 1953 over the remains of the old church. The old church comes from the 14th / 15th centuries. Century and was destroyed on July 3, 1943 by German troops.

The octagonal structure was probably built under the direction of Giorgio Vasari and Bartolomeo Ammanati .
