The Prairie Township is one of eight townships in Audrain County of in the middle northeastern US -amerikanischen state of Missouri . In 2010 the Prairie Township had 932 residents.

The Prairie Township is around 80 km north of the Missouri River and around 70 km west of the Mississippi , which forms the border with Illinois .

The Prairie Township is 39 ° 16 '  N , 91 ° 42'  W and extends over 204.6 km².

The Prairie Township is in the north of Audrain County and borders northwest on Monroe County and northeast on Ralls County . Within Audrain County, the Prairie Township borders the Cuivre Township in the east, the Linn Township in the south, the South Fork Township in the southwest and the Salt River Township in the west .

US Highway 54 and Missouri State Route 19 meet in Prairie Township . All other roads within the township are subordinate and partly unpaved roads.

A Kansas City Southern railway line runs through the extreme southeast of the township and runs from Springfield in Illinois to Kansas City .

The Mexico Memorial Airport is located around 20 km southwest of the Prairie Township, a small airfield. The nearest major airport is Lambert-Saint Louis International Airport, around 150 km east-southeast .

Demographic data

According to the 2010 census , the Prairie Township had 932 people in 386 households. The population density was 4.6 inhabitants per square kilometer. Statistically, 2.41 people lived in each of the 386 households.

The racial the population was composed of 99.0 percent white, 0.2 percent African American, 0.4 percent Native American and 0.1 percent (one person) Asian; 0.2 percent were descended from two or more races. Hispanic or Latino of any race was 0.2 percent of the population.

Localities

In addition to scattered settlements, the majority of the residents live in the town of Laddonia , a small part of which extends into the neighboring Linn Township to the south .
