Pressure Cookin ' ( . English for: Cooking under pressure ) is the third music album of American radio - Soul trios Labelle. It was the only album they released on RCA Records in August 1973 .

Upon release, the album received critical acclaim for the songs composed and written by Nona Hendryx . Among the tracks worth mentioning are the psychedelic soul arranged medley of Thunderclap Newman's Something in the Air and Gil Scott-Heron's The Revolution Will Not Be Televised , in which all three band members Patti LaBelle , Nona Hendryx and Sarah Dash each rap a verse . All three also share the leading singing voice in Hollywood, which is laid out as a biography (Can I Speak to You Before You Go to) . The piece is based on the story of old friends of the trio from the beginning of their careers, who, however, lost touch with the singers on the way to their own fame.

Although RCA Records released both the funk-rock goin 'on a Holiday and the by Santana -influenced sound Let Me See You in the Light as singles , but neither these two publications nor the album itself could be placed on the charts. Despite the initial failure, Pressure Cookin ' became a classic and is seen as a revolutionary album for a women's band as their songs addressed social and political issues.
