background
The album is a new interpretation of the soundtrack of the film Charlie and the Chocolate Factory from 1971. It is the first full studio album of the band with drummer Tim Alexander since the album Tales from the Punchbowl in 1995th

Siggy Zielinsky from Babyblauen Seiten gives the album a rating of 9/15: “If you are very strict, you could call 'Primus & The Chocolate Factory With The Fungi Ensemble' the best Frog Brigade studio album, because the music clearly sounds more after Les Claypool's probably best project than after Primus. Larry LaLonde is once again underemployed, so that there is hardly any prime mood ... As with 'Green Naugahyde', I am again a bit ambivalent about the assessment ... "
