Primus Sitter (born February 20, 1966 in Villach ) is an Austrian jazz guitarist and composer. Sitter works internationally with his own projects or as a sideman . He currently lives as a self-employed musician in Carinthia .

Act

Sitter played with Prima Volta at the Jazz Festival Montreux (CD Sometime-Somewhere 1991). In 1992 he performed with the Austrian Jazz Orchestra under the direction of Erich Kleinschuster at the Vienna Jazz Festival as well as the Warsaw Jazz Festival and the Carinthian Summer . In 1999 he toured Austria and Slovenia with his international Primus Sitter Five . He was also a member of the Upper Austrian Jazz Orchestra and the Soultown Orchestra . He toured Turkey with Trio Süd in 2003 (Izmir Jazz Festival, Istanbul, Bodrum) and in Mexico in 2007.

In addition to his own bands he plays with The Talltones (with Richard bracket and Stefan Gfrerrer), which were established in 2006, the band Soul What , the group AirBass of Gina Black and Richard Austrians and led together with saxophonist Christian Maurer Quartet Sitter Maurer with Marc Abrams and drummer Herbert Pirker . The Oliver Groenewald Newnet also performed compositions by Sitter (CDs Meetings and Talking Heads ) on tours in Germany and Austria .

From 1999 until today (2013) Sitter directed and coordinated the monthly concert series in the "Theatercafe Cho-Cho-San" Klagenfurt with musicians from Austria, Italy, Germany, Slovenia and many more. (CD "Primus Sitter Workshop" with live recordings from the 2001/02 season). He was also involved in theater productions ( Jesus Christ Superstar , Clockwork Orange , Elvis , Threepenny Opera , etc.)

Sitter also worked as a lecturer at the Scheibbs jazz seminar, the Villacher Musiccamp, the Wolfsberg jazz days, the Viktring music forum and the Salzburg jazz seminar 2005 (assistant to Nguyên Lê ).

Awards / prizes

Sitter is a prizewinner at the "International Heritage Jazz Guitar Competition" 1996 in Nashville / Tennessee.

On December 6, 2019, he was awarded the "Prize of the State of Carinthia for Music".
