The RSD59 project describes a type of Russian coaster .

history

The ship type was designed by the Marine Engineering Bureau in Saint Petersburg . It is based on the ship type of the RSD49 project, also designed by the Marine Engineering Bureau, with similar dimensions. The ships are designed for sailing on coastal waters and Russian inland waters. Their dimensions correspond to the boundaries of the Volga-Don Canal (Volga-Don-Max).

Initially, ten ships of the type were ordered, five of which were to be built at the Nevsky Shipyard and Krasnoye Sormovo Shipyard. The construction contracts with the two shipyards were concluded in December 2016. Four more ships were ordered from the Krasnoye Sormovo Shipyard in November 2018. All four ships are to be delivered in 2019. In January 2019, another eleven units were ordered from the Krasnoye Sormovo Shipyard, which are to be delivered by the end of 2021. Construction of the ships began with the first steel cut on March 27, 2017.

The ships are ordered by the State Transport Leasing Company (STLC) and operated by Pola Rise. The ships are managed by the Saint Petersburg-based company INOK TM.

description

The drive of the vessels is provided by two diesel engines each with 1,200  kW power . The motors act on two rudder propellers . The ships reach a speed of around 10  kn . They are equipped with a bow thruster with 230 kW power.

Two diesel generators with 332 kW output each and an emergency generator with 90 kW output are available for power generation.

The ships have two box-shaped holds . The front cargo space is 27.03 meters long, the rear 77.35 meters. Both rooms are 12.25 meters wide and 9.0 meters high. The holds are closed with 15 pontoon hatch covers that can be moved with a hatch car. The volume of the cargo holds is 11,400 m³. The tank top can be loaded with 12 t / m². The ships are equipped with five bulkheads .

The ships can load 248  TEU . In the holds there is space for 192 TEU (four 20-foot containers one behind the other in hold 1 and twelve 20-foot containers one behind the other in hold 2 as well as four containers next to each other and three on top of each other), on deck 56 TEU can be stored in one layer (three 20-foot containers one behind the other on hatch 1 and eleven 20-foot containers one behind the other on hatch 1 and four containers next to each other).

By adapting the design and increasing the draft, the carrying capacity of the ships was increased by around 465 t (from 7679 to 8144 t) during the construction phase.

The flat deckhouse is located in the stern area of the ships. The masts of the ships can be folded down to pass under bridges . There is a free-fall lifeboat behind the deckhouse . The ships are driven by a crew of ten to eleven . There is space for a total of 14 people on board. The ships can stay at sea for 20 days.

The hull of the ships is reinforced with ice (Russian ice class "Ice2").
