Protopopiwka ( Ukrainian Протопопівка ; Russian Протопоповка Protopopowka ) is a village in the east of the Ukrainian Oblast Kirowohrad with about 2,400 inhabitants (2001).
geography
Protopopivka is located on the bank of the Dnieper - Inhulez Canal just before its confluence with the Inhulez and borders on the north of the urban-type settlement Pryutivka . The village is located on the territorial road T-12-15 , 12 km north from Rajonzentrum Oleksandrija and 88 km northeast of the Oblastzentrum Kropywnyzkyj .
Protopopiwka is the administrative center of the eponymous district municipality in Rajon Oleksandrija to which even the villages Berezivka (Ukrainian: Березівка , ⊙ ) with about 580 inhabitants, Dibrowy (Ukrainian: Діброви , ⊙ ) with about 220 inhabitants and Jahidne Ukrainian (: Ягідне , ⊙ ) with about 20 inhabitants. Until December 27, 2013, the villages of Petrivske (Ukrainian: Петрівське ) and Fedoriwka (Ukrainian: Федорівка ) also belonged to the district council.
history
That in the 1740s of Zaporozhye Cossacks village founded later belonged to the area of Nowosloboda -Kosaken regiment in the province of New Serbia . Between 1787 and 1803 it was a state village in the Yekaterinoslav Governorate within the Russian Empire before it became the Kherson Governorate in 1806 . From 1821 until 1857 it became a military settlement. In 1859, the village had 178 households with 1,072 residents, mainly in agriculture, and 86 in crafts and trade. In the course of the construction of the Kremenchuk - Jelisavetgrad railway line , a train station was built on the outskirts in 1869.
