action

Provvidenza is an unusual bounty hunter who dresses in shabby but plush suits and bowlers and speaks several languages, including Chinese. He's after Hurricane Kid, a hulking, filthy bandit for whom he collects a hefty sum. Then he frees him again in order to recapture him in the next state, in which the kid is wanted, and deliver him for the bounty. In addition, Provvidenza struggles with a criminal sheriff, a counterfeit dealer, the criminologist Mike Goodmorning and the lovely girl Stella, who keeps crossing his path. Even a group of religious zealots who are building their church in the midst of the events are confronted with Provvidenza's fabulous vehicle, a carriage that can satisfy all possible and impossible needs of life and has numerous weapons and tricks ready. Numerous absurd situations lead to the inevitable final duel in which Provvidenza and the corrupt sheriff who cheated on him with counterfeit money face each other.

criticism

The lexicon of international film found that the film came “with some good ideas, but overall quite pointless and penetrating in an attempt to provide a cross-section of the history of American comedy cinema.” The turbulent clothes with some plenty bizarre flashes of genius has a character with Tomas Milian in the title role who outwardly represents “a mixture of Charlie Chaplin's tramp and Asian kabuki theater”, analyzes Christian Keßler , who further states : “The humor of the film is definitely not for everyone” and summarizes : "A really nice film." The Italian Segnalazioni Cinematografiche judged less enthusiastically : "A loud farce that exhumed old gags that are cheap but still effective."

Remarks

The outdoor shots were taken near Camposecco and in stretches of land along the Via Tiburtina .
