Psychotomy is an Italian death metal band from Venice that was founded in 2010.
history
The band was founded in 2010 by the drummer Marco, the guitarist Irene "Nene" Brazzolotto and the guitarist and singer Lorenza "Lory" de Rossi. Together they wrote the first material before Jek joined the band as bass player in the summer of 2011 and a first demo was recorded. After a few local appearances, the EP Transcend The Absolution was recorded in 2012. After that, Jek left the cast and the band continued as a trio. In 2015, The Spew Records , a sub-label of Punishment 18 Records , released the debut album Antinomia . The bass was then played by Marco. In their career, the band has performed with Ape Unit , Devangelic , Profanal , Hateful , Natron , Dysmorphic , Death Mechanism , Barbarian , Asphyx , Ratos de Porão and Cripple Bastards , among others .
style
Marco's “Big Daddy” Garcia from metal-temple.com wrote in his review of Antinomia that the band may come up with brutal Death Metal, but in contrast to other bands like Krisiun , Morbid Angel , Nile and Angelcorpse, they play a more traditional form of the genre ; it is technically less demanding as well as less fast and aggressive. Thrash metal elements can also be found in a few songs . Nik Cameron from glaciallymusical.blogspot.de also reviewed the album. This begins with an interview with Aileen Wuornos before death metal sets in. Characteristic are the guttural singing , the blastbeath rhythms, the wrongly tuned snare drum and riffs played by seven-string guitars. The guitar solos would not be like Marty Friedman or Kerry King's , but more like Daisy Berkowitz's . The music is less about traditional Death Metal in the style of Deicide, since one also dares ideas that are not typical of the genre.
