Puerto Patiño is a town in the department of Cochabamba in the South American Andean state of Bolivia .
location
Puerto Patiño is the central location of the canton of Puerto Patiño in the district ( Bolivian : Municipio ) Villa Tunari in the province of Chapare . The village is located at an altitude of 245 m at the foot of the ridge of the Cordillera of Cochabamba on the Río Sasama , a tributary of the Río Isiboro , which flows to the Río Mamoré .

Puerto Patiño is located in the Bolivian lowlands on the northern edge of the Cordillera Oriental in a tropical climate.
The long-term average annual temperature is almost 27 ° C (see climate diagram Villa Tunari), the monthly temperatures fluctuate between a good 23 ° C in July and almost 29 ° C in December and January. The annual precipitation of 2,300 mm shows a clear rainy season from October to April, with monthly precipitation between 160 and 380 mm.
Transport network
Puerto Patiño is located at a distance of 190 kilometers by road northeast of Cochabamba , the capital of the department.
The 1,657-kilometer Ruta 4 highway runs through Cochabamba and crosses the country from west to east. It leads from Tambo Quemado on the Chilean border via Cochabamba and Sacaba to Villa Tunari and on via Santa Cruz to Puerto Suárez on the Brazilian border. Two kilometers east of Villa Tunari in front of the river bridge over the Río Espirítu Santo , the unpaved road Ruta 24 branches off in a northerly direction from Ruta 4 , which leads to the TIPNIS nature reserve and whose further development was temporarily stopped by indigenous protests in autumn 2011. The Ruta 24 reaches Puerto Patiño via Eterazama after 50 kilometers .
Puerto Patiño also has a 900 meter long unpaved airstrip in the north of the village.

Due to the historical population distribution, the region has a significant proportion of Quechua population, in the municipality of Villa Tunari 83.5 percent of the population speak the Quechua language.
