The Punt da Rueun ( Rhaeto-Romanic for Rueuner Brücke ) is a wooden bridge near Rueun (municipality of Ilanz / Glion ) in the Surselva in the canton of Graubünden in Switzerland . It is the oldest covered wooden bridge in the canton and is a cantonal monument.
The bridge crosses the Vorderrhein a little east of the Rueun train station. At its southern exit, it joins the Polenweg , which leads from Ilanz to Tavanasa .
history
A bridge is said to have existed a little further east near St. Nikolaus even before 1800. In 1813 another bridge was built to the west of today's bridge at the level of the Schmuerbach. The contract for the Punt da Rueun was signed on December 28, 1839 by the builders from Bonaduz at a price of 5550 florins; at that time around 435 francs.
Over the bridge, on the one hand, the meadows near Pardiala were cultivated and the cattle were driven to pasture; on the other hand, it was the connection to the path that led up to Flond and Obersaxen .
construction
The roadway consists of longitudinal planks, the hipped roof is covered with wooden shingles. Around 1960 the 45 centimeter long shingles were covered with sheet metal. The sheet metal was later removed and the shingle roof restored. The bridge is boarded with vertical boards that reach down from the abutments to the trusses and cover them at the sides. Two small rectangular windows are cut out in the middle of each side.
