Chamdo Champa Ling

Chamdo Champa Ling ( Tib . : chab mdo byams pa gling ) or the Chamdo Monastery , Qamdo Monastery or Changdu Monastery is a historically significant monastery of the Gelug School of Tibetan Buddhism in eastern Tibet in the border area to Qinghai . In its heyday more than five thousand monks lived in it and it had about one hundred and thirty secondary monasteries. It is the largest and earliest Gelugpa monastery in the Kham area . Lobsang Tenzin Namgyel Occasion Flora , vice chairman of the 11th Consultative Conference of the Chinese people ( CPPCC ), has been in 1942 , the 11th  Phagba-Lha - reincarnation of the monastery.

The monastery is located in the Dagmala Mountains on the upper reaches of the Mekong ( Lancang Jiang ) in the large municipality of Chengguan in the Karub district of the city of Qamdo , Tibet , People's Republic of China , at the confluence of the two rivers Dza Chu ( 杂 曲 , Za Qu ) with the Ngom Chu ( 昂 曲 , Ang Qu ) on the "Dragon Mountain". The monastery was 1437 - 1444 of Jangsem Sherab Sangpo (Jansem Sherab Zangpo) from Kham , a pupil of Tsongkhapa taken in attack, the first in the monastery Sera in Lhasa received his education.

The official bronze seal was awarded to the Sixth Pagbalha Hutugtu Jigme Tenpe Gyatsho by Emperor Kangxi in the fifth month of the 58th year of the Kangxi era (1719) in the Qing Dynasty . From then on he was one of the Lifanyuan , i. H. the Ministry of Minority Affairs, registered great Kuutuktus .

The main hall of the monastery is surrounded by the guard hall , tara hall, sutras debate courtyard, Gedorlha palace, Galdan Phobrang, nine dratshang (faculties), sutras printing shop, dratshang practice hall and eight dagobas It has a large collection of metal, wooden and clay Buddha statues, thangka picture scrolls , sacred objects and Buddhist scriptures.

It is famous for a religious mask dance of jumping guardian deities held on a specific festival.

The monastery has been on the list of monuments of the People's Republic of China (7-1401) since 2013 .
