Qarajat [ qɑʁajatˢʰ ] (the old spelling K'arajat ) is a desolate fallen Greenlandic settlement in the district Nuuk in Sermersooq .
location
Qarajat is located on the south coast of a peninsula belonging to the mainland. Not too far is Narsaq, 7 km northwest . The nearest inhabited place is Nuuk , which is 27 km north-northwest.
history
Qarajat was founded in 1775 by the Moravian Brethren . In 1779 some of the residents moved to the mission station in Narsaq. Nothing is known about Qarajat, except that the last residents left the place in 1905.
