action
Mariachi is a typical Mexican music genre and an essential part of Mexican culture. But mariachi is much more than music, it embodies a certain lifestyle that is very patriarchal. It is not easy for women to assert themselves in this area. Nevertheless, there is a small number of women who courageously dare to take to the streets with their voices or their instruments to make music, and thus also point out the situation in their homeland, which is marked by corruption, drug wars and crime. The film follows the artists of the band Estrellas de Jalisco , accompanies them at home and during their appearances on the streets of Mexico City and on special occasions, such as birthday parties or on the Día de los Muertos , the most important Mexican holiday.
