The Queen of the Oceans is a cruise ship that entered service in 2000 as the Ocean Princess . From 2002 to 2020 it drove as Oceana . The ship belongs to the Sun class consisting of four units .
history
The Ocean Princess was created under the hull number 6044 in the shipyard of Fincantieri in Monfalcone and ran on 29 April 1999 from the stack . After completion and delivery on January 28, 2000 to Princess Cruises, the ship began service in February 2000 for cruises to the Caribbean and, in the summer months, to Alaska .
In November 2002, after two years of service for Princess Cruises , the Ocean Princess was handed over to P&O Cruises and renamed Oceana . After the ship sailed under the Liberian flag in the year of its commissioning and then under the British flag, it has been registered in Bermuda with Hamilton as its home port since 2005 .
In March and April 2008 the Oceana received a general overhaul in the Lloyd Werft Bremerhaven , during which parts of the interior were also renewed. The ship had other longer stays in the shipyard in December 2012 and from November to December 2017 at Blohm + Voss in Hamburg .
The Oceana was one of the ships that were rejected by the parent company Carnival Corporation & plc as part of the Covid-19 pandemic . The buyer of the ship is the Greek shipping company Seajets, which operates ferry connections to the Cyclades and Crete . At the end of July 2020, the ship was handed over to the new owner and renamed Queen of the Oceans . SeaJets Catamaran leaves the ship of Optimum Ship Management in Piraeus bereedern .
