Career

Róbinson Zapata's career began with the Colombian top club América de Cali , where he became a regular goalkeeper early on. In 1999 he won his first title by winning the Copa Merconorte , followed by the Colombian championship in 2000 . He moved to Real Cartagena in early 2001 within Primera A and played with his new club against relegation to the Primera B category . At the end of 2002, the club finally had to go into the second division and Zapata returned to America, where he won the Apertura of 2004 after two mixed seasons . However, it was no longer used regularly.

In the middle of 2004 Zapata left Colombia and went to Argentina, where he had a difficult time at Rosario Central and later at CA Independiente and was rarely used. In mid-2005 he went to CA Belgrano in the Argentine Primera B Nacional , but after six months he moved on to Deportes La Serena , which was playing in the Chilean Primera División at the time. After a placement in the front field at the end of the aperture, Zapata returned to Colombia in mid-2006 and tied himself to Cúcuta Deportivo . With the club he was able to win the Finalización and thus again the championship in the same year.

After narrowly missing out on defending the title, the Romanian record champions Steaua Bucharest signed Zapata in the summer of 2007. At Steaua, he established himself as a regular goalkeeper from the start and has been with the club for over three years - longer than at any station before. After the runner-up in 2008 , however, the really big successes have not yet materialized. During the 2009/10 season he lost his regular place to his competitor Ciprian Tătăruşanu and was temporarily banned from the first team squad at the beginning of the 2010/11 season .

During the 2010/11 winter break, Zapata moved to the traditional club Galatasaray Istanbul on a free transfer . In the second half of the season, the Colombian goalkeeper at Galatasaray could not convince, so his contract was terminated prematurely. In July 2011 he moved to Deportivo Pereira . Half a year later, he was drawn to league rivals Itagüí Ditaires . At the beginning of 2013 he moved to reigning champions Millonarios FC , but could not defend the title with his new club. In early 2014 he moved on to Independiente Santa Fe . With Santa Fe he won the Colombian championship in the second half of the 2014 season.

In the 2015 season , Zapata appeared in eleven games for Santa Fe. On January 31, 2016, he scored the 0-1 in the first game of the season 2016 with a penalty in the game against Boyacá Chicó .
