Rödgen is a district of the municipality of Zschepplin in the district of North Saxony in Saxony . Because of its proximity to the city of Eilenburg , and to avoid confusion with Rödgen bei Delitzsch , the place is usually called Rödgen bei Eilenburg.

Rödgen is about three kilometers northwest of Eilenburg. The place is not on a classified road, but in addition to the local connection to Eilenburg there are others to Steubeln , Zschepplin , Naundorf and Pressen . To the west of Rödgen is Kämmereiforst with a forest area and a train station on the Halle – Eilenburg railway line .

history

Rödgen is a street village in terms of the type of settlement . Until 1815 it belonged to the Electoral Saxon or Royal Saxon Office of Eilenburg . By the resolutions of the Congress of Vienna , the place came to Prussia. In 1816 he was assigned to the Delitzsch district in the Merseburg administrative district of the province of Saxony , to which he belonged until 1952. On July 1, 1950, the town of Steubeln was incorporated north of Rödgen. In the course of the second district reform in the GDR in 1952, Rödgen was connected to the Eilenburg district in the Leipzig district , which was added to the Delitzsch district in 1994 . In 1972 Rödgen was incorporated into Naundorf . Rödgen has been part of the Zschepplin community since 1999.

The population of Rödgen was 153 in 1818. Until the outbreak of the Second World War , the population rose slightly to almost 200, previously fluctuated by a maximum of 100. After the end of the war, the population rose by more than 100. In 1950, the previous high of 353 inhabitants was counted. During the time of the GDR, the population decreased again. In 1964 just over 300 people lived in Rödgen.

Rödgen village church

The late baroque church in Rödgen dates back to 1784. A previous building fell victim to a village fire. The Rödgener Church consists of a rectangular hall with an altar wall and side galleries . The seating is from the time it was built. The church tower has a domed roof, which had to be renovated in 1830, 1877, 1901 and 1992.
