Rudiger Wittig

Rüdiger Wittig (born October 17, 1946 in Herne ) is a German biologist ; Most recently he worked as a university professor for geobotany and ecology at the Johann Wolfgang Goethe University in Frankfurt am Main .

Career

From 1968 to 1973 Wittig studied biology and chemistry at the Westphalian Wilhelms University in Münster and passed his state examination in biology and chemistry. From 1973 to 1976 he did his doctorate at the Botanical Institute of the Westphalian Wilhelms University. From 1976 to 1980 he worked as a research assistant at the Department of Landscape Ecology at the Westphalian Wilhelms University. In 1980 he completed his habilitation on the subject of the moors and oligotrophic waters of the Westphalian Bight - flora, vegetation, conservation efficiency and care suggestions . From 1980 to 1988 Wittig was Professor of Botany at the Heinrich Heine University in Düsseldorf , where he headed the Department of Geobotany at the Institute for Ecological Plant Physiology and Geobotany. Between 1989 and 2013 he worked as a professor ( grade C4) for ecology and geobotany at the Botanical Institute of the Johann Wolfgang Goethe University in Frankfurt am Main.
