Rüper is a district of the municipality of Wendeburg in the Peine district in Lower Saxony .

location

Rüper is located about 3 km northwest of the core town of Wendeburg and 8 km northeast of Peine (both as the crow flies) at an average altitude of 70 m above sea level. NHN south and west of the 89.5 m high Rüper mountain.

The Jerusalem Church , built in 1906/1907 on the western edge of the Rüper Mountain, with its tower can be seen far into the country.

history

It was first mentioned in a document on June 9th, 1250. Since the 750th anniversary in 2000, the so-called “stone festival” has taken place on June 9th.

On March 1, 1974, Rüper was incorporated into the Wendeburg community.

coat of arms

Wolves appear more frequently in the local coats of arms of the Peine district than elsewhere - not because there are still some here, but because a wolf was the heraldic animal of the once powerful Count of Peine. So a blue armored, golden wolf grows in the red upper field of the divided coat of arms of Rüper; Below in the golden field rises a red church on a green hill, which is crisscrossed by a silver wavy ribbon. The church is the Jerusalem Church, built in 1907, and there is evidence of a church as early as 1250 (at a different location). The shield colors gold-red are reminiscent of centuries of territorial affiliation to the duchy of Hildesheim. The wavy band represents the border ditch between the old districts of Astvala and Flutwidde; Later on, Schneegraben and Erse formed the border between the Peine and Braunschweig districts for long stretches. The local council adopted the coat of arms on September 15, 1961, and the Hildesheim district president approved it on December 5 of the same year. Design: Alfred Brecht.

Club life

There is the volunteer fire brigade and other voluntary organizations, associations and groups.
