Location of the turning cell in Wendeburg

Wendezelle is a district of the village of Wendeburg in the municipality of Wendeburg in the Peine district in Lower Saxony with around 1000 inhabitants.

history

The first mention was made on April 19, 1380. The form of settlement the village is still in its structure as Rundling recognizable. Turning cell is probably the westernmost round village.

After the 600th anniversary of the town in 1980, a cross was inaugurated on the historic court square to commemorate the shooting festival in 1981. The meeting at the memorial always takes place on the historic Judgment Day, on the Tuesday in the full week after Epiphany.

On July 1, 1968, the communities Wendeburg, Wendezelle and Zweidorf voluntarily merged to form a new community Wendeburg.

coat of arms

By resolution of the local council on August 18, 1986, Wendezelle was given the coat of arms. In the blue shield, a yellow linden tree grows out of a golden round symbol open at the top; it is flanked by two golden ears of wheat. The ring stands for the original and still recognizable settlement form of the Rundlingsdorf. The jurisdiction, which was different for the areas inside and outside the village, is indicated by the linden tree. The ears of wheat indicate agriculture. Blue and yellow, the Brunswick state and district colors, were already used as local colors. Design: Rolf Ahlers.

Club life

There are voluntary organizations, clubs and groups.

As early as the 1950s, the "Wendezeller football song" (see: web links) was popularly sung at TSV Wendezelle events. In particular, the Young Society sings again and again: "That we are Wendezeller ..." (see: web links).
