From 1990 employees of the Initiative for Refugees eV got involved in establishing a psychosocial center for refugees in Munich. After rejecting two applications, the Munich city council decided in 1993 to found a psychosocial center for refugees in Munich, and in the same year the social department commissioned the initiative for refugees with the establishment and sponsorship. In May 1994 the advice and treatment center opened in Rauchstrasse with six employees. In 1998 the sponsoring association changed its name to its current name. In 2001 the company moved to Mariahilfplatz in der Au , and in 2012 another to Rosenheimer Straße 38 ( Haidhausen ). Both moves were associated with an expansion of activities.
