RIAJ Digital Track Chart
The RIAJ Digital Track Chart ( Japanese RIAJ 有 料 音 楽 配 信 チ ャ ー ト ; RIAJ Yūryō Ongaku Haishin Chāto ) is a music chart in Japan , founded in April 2009 by the Recording Industry Association of Japan ( RIAJ for short ). In contrast to the Oricon charts, only downloads that originate from the mobile phone are listed here . The service ended on July 27, 2012.
history
The RIAJ began certifying downloads in August 2006. At that time, a monthly chart was brought out, the Reco-kyō Chart ( レ コ 協 チ ャ ー ト ; officially actually Yūryō Ongaku Haishin Chart ( 有 料 音 楽 配 信 チ ャ ー ト )). The charts included the best-selling ringtones ( Chaku-Uta ). However, the operation was discontinued in March 2009 and was replaced by the Chaku-Uta Full Chart System, which is also called RIAJ Digital Track Chart .
methodology
The charts ran weekly from Wednesday to Tuesday and were updated every Friday at 11 a.m. (Japanese time). The first number one song on the charts was It's All Love! by Kumi Kōda with her sister Misono .
First the RIAJ gave sources from the providers Dwango , Mora , Mu-Mo , music.jp and Recochoku . On February 19, 2010, the RIAJ announced that they would get sources from nine more providers, including Oricon Me , and thus use 14 providers as sources.
Records
Only four international artists made it into the top 10 of the charts. That would be Michael Jackson with Thriller (placed at # 7 in June 2009, right after his death), Backstreet Boys with Straight Through My Heart (at # 4 in September 2009) and Lady Gaga feat. Beyoncé with Telephone (at # 5 in April 2010).
