The Rabanus-Maurus-Kirche is a Roman Catholic parish church in Petersberg in the eastern Hessian district of Fulda , which belongs to the diocese of Fulda and is assigned to the dean's office of Fulda .

It is the main church of the parish of St. Peter and is located in Petersberg "Am Ziegelberg 28".

Church building

The church named after Rabanus Maurus was built in 1957 according to the plans of W. Reinhard and Otto Rug. The spacious brick-concrete skeleton structure on a cross-shaped floor plan is 55 meters long and 13 to 15 meters high and offers space for around 700 people. The free-standing octagonal bell tower with a height of 35 meters, on the ground floor of which there is a chapel , is equipped with a four-part bell with the striking tones c sharp ', e', f sharp 'and a'.

The furnishings include a Pieta in the tower chapel and a wooden statue of Joseph by the Petersberg sculptor Johannes Kirsch , who also redesigned the entrance area in 1996, as well as a Baroque statue of the Virgin Mary from the Petersberg Church of St. Lioba .

The organ from 1964 comes from the organ workshop Gebr. Späth in Ennetach -Mengen and has 33 registers, a large pedal field and an upper work field.

The parish is one of the five Catholic parishes in the municipality Petersberg near the district town of Fulda , home to the majority of Catholics.
