Evangelical name calendar

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The Evangelical Name Calendar is a directory comparable to the Catholic calendar of saints , which mainly contains personalities from the pre-Reformation period and Protestantism. It was designed in the first half of the 20th century under the leadership of the Evangelical Michael Brotherhood and officially approved by the EKD Council in 1969 . The Liturgical Conference in the Evangelical Church in Germany publishes it annually as an appendix to the Sunday and public holiday calendar. - In contrast to its Catholic counterpart, the Evangelical Name Calendar was never able to establish itself in church life, even in the communities of the liturgical movement .

The Evangelical Name Calendar is listed below, with the year of death given for each person after the name and the symbols explained below (BC: astronomical year designation, 0 instead of 1 BC, −1 instead of 2 BC, etc.) .
