history
One church has been occupied for Rabenden since the 12th century, because it was added to the parish of Kienberg as a branch when the old parish Truchtlaching was divided. The current construction of the church dates back to 1458. The upper floor of the tower dates from the second half of the 19th century. Today the branch belongs to the Altenmarkt parish.
The place name is commonly derived from the name Ratpoto , as the spelling Rapotingen is found in old documents .
On Philipp Apian's Bavarian land tables from 1568 it is recorded on plate 19 as Rabentn .
By the Gemeindeedikt resulting from 1818 independent municipality Rabenden was in the course of municipal reform incorporated on 1 January 1975 in the municipality of Altenmarkt. A small part with about ten inhabitants came to Obing.
