Rahmon Nabiev
Rahmon Nabijewitsch Nabijew ( Russian / Tajik Раҳмон Набиевич Набиев ; born October 5, 1930 in Shaikhburchan , Tajik Soviet Socialist Republic , Soviet Union ; † April 11, 1993 in Khujand , Tajikistan ) was a first elected President of the Tajikistan and Tajik Republic .
Life
Rahmon Nabijew was born on October 5, 1930 in Shaiburchan in Leninabad Oblast , which today bears the name of Sughd Province , in the north of the Tajik Soviet Socialist Republic (TaSSR). From 1946 to 1949 he worked as a clerk on a collective farm . Then Nabijew studied at the Tashkent Engineering Institute for Agriculture and Irrigation ( Ташкентский Институт Инженеров Ирригации и Механизации Сельского Хозяства 195 ) and graduated from there. Between 1954 and 1960 he was first chief engineer of a machine-tractor station ( МТС ) and later chief engineer and director of a repair tractor station ( РТС ). In 1960 he became head of the Department of the Ministry of Agriculture of the TaSSR ( МСХ Таджикистан ) and deputy manager of the Republican Association Tadschikselchostechnika ( Таджиксельхозтехника ). From 1961 to 1963 he worked first as deputy head and finally as head of the Central Committee of the Tajik Communist Party. He then became an inspector in the Central Asian Office ( Средазбюро ) of the Central Committee of the CPSU and finally from 1964 to 1971 inspector and head of the Department of Agricultural Affairs of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Tajikistan.
In 1971 he became Minister of Agriculture and from 1973 its Chairman of the Council of Ministers of the Tajik Socialist Soviet Republic and Minister for External Relations of this Union republic . After holding these offices until 1982, he became First Secretary of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Tajikistan. In 1985 Nabiiev was removed from this post due to a corruption scandal. Since 1976 he has also been a member of the Central Revision Commission of the CPSU ( Центральная ревизионная комиссия КПСС ). In 1986 Nabiev became chairman of the Tajik Republican Society for Nature Conservation ( Таджикское республиканское общество охраны природы ). In 1990 he was elected a member of the Supreme Soviet and in 1991 became its chairman.
In the course of the August coup in Moscow , there were also mass demonstrations in the TaSSR and, ultimately, the removal of Tajik President Kachar Machkamov . Rahmon Nabiev won the subsequent presidential election in Tajikistan in 1991 and became the first President of Tajikistan. In the Tajik civil war , with the help of communist clans from the north, he initially ousted the Islamic-democratic counter-president Akbarscho Iskanderov , but was replaced and overthrown in 1992 by Emomalij Rahmonov in his own camp .
Nabiev died on April 11, 1993 in his home in Khujand. The reasons for his death are unknown. According to official information, he died after a heart attack . According to unofficial information, suicide and murder are also discussed as causes of death.
Awards
For his services, Nabiev received the Order of Lenin , the Order of the October Revolution and the Order of the Red Banner of Labor .
