history

After the separation of the rural parish of Oldenburg into the parishes Eversten and Ohmstede in 1879, it was decided on May 1, 1901 to split the large rural parish of Oldenburg into three parishes. Eversten was one of them. Due to the bad social structures and the resulting bad economic conditions, a meeting was called to improve the situation. At this meeting it was decided to open a savings and loan fund in Eversten.

On April 14, 1903, the “savings and loan fund registered cooperative with unlimited liability” (eGmuH) was entered in the cooperative register. At this point there were 41 comrades on record. The first board was composed of Bernhard Schwarting as director, Friedrich Meyer as assessor and Friedrich Oldewage as rendant. The business premises were in the house of the Rendanten Friedrich Oldewage, Hauptstrasse 13. With a growing number of members and rising sales, the savings and loan fund developed into the backbone of the economy in Eversten.

In 1923 Wilhelm Reins became the new Rendant, as his predecessor Friedrich Oldewage had retired. Under the new management, the name was changed in 1924 to "Eversten Bank eGmuH". During the Great Depression until the 1930s, the bank changed its place of business and name several times.

In February 1953, the bank was able to move into its new building at 74 Hauptstrasse in Eversten. Rendant was Emil Helm's at the time.

In March 1964 an office was opened in Bloherfelde at Bloherfelder Strasse 141. On June 1, 1975 the office was moved to its current location. Another branch was opened in Hundsmühlen in 1964 .

In 1972 the board of directors and the supervisory board of Raiffeisenbank Oldenburg eG commissioned the architect Rolf Ripken with the new building. In December 1973 the new building was occupied. This is still today at Hauptstrasse 74. This year the name was changed to “Raiffeisenbank Oldenburg eG” for the last time.

In 1987 the Raiffeisenbank Oldenburg eG merged with the Raiffeisenbank Wiefelstede eG. The Ofenerdiek and Nadorst branches were taken over in the merger with the savings and loan association Oldenburg eG in 1991. The last merger with Volksbank Bad Zwischenahn took place in 2001.
