Raimo Heino

Raimo Isma Heino (born on September 13, 1932 in Helsinki ; died on November 30, 1995 there ) was a Finnish sculptor and medalist .

Heino attended the Free Art School in Helsinki from 1953 to 1956 . From 1954 to 1957 he studied at the Academy of Fine Arts, also in Helsinki. In 1962 and 1963 he completed his academic training at the Helsinki Art and Design College .

From 1960 to 1991 he was a teacher of fine arts, drawing and composition at various educational institutions.

In 1962 Heino went public for the first time with the exhibition of his work. His 216 medals occupy a large part of Heino's artistic work. His most important work in numismatics is the face of the 2 euro course coin , which has been minted since 1999. In addition to numerous small sculptures, Heino created important sculptures in public spaces, mostly using bronze and granite, but also wood and steel.
