Raimundo Lui

Raimundo Lui OCarm (born July 22, 1912 in Itu , São Paulo , Brazil ; † August 10, 1994 ) was a Brazilian religious and Roman Catholic bishop of Paracatu .

Life

Raimundo Lui entered the Carmelite Order and, after studying Catholic theology , received the sacrament of ordination on December 8, 1939 .

Pope John XXIII appointed him on June 11, 1962 as the first diocesan bishop of the former territorial prelature raised two months earlier to the diocese of Paracatu . The apostolic nuncio in Brazil, Archbishop Armando Lombardi , donated him episcopal ordination on July 29 of the same year . Co- consecrators were his predecessor in Paracatu, the emeritus prelate of the territorial prelature, Bishop Eliseu van de Weijer OCarm, and Gabriel Paulino Bueno Couto OCarm, auxiliary bishop in São Paulo . The inauguration in the Diocese of Paracatu took place on August 26th of the same year.

He participated in all four sessions of the Second Vatican Council as a council father. Pope Paul VI accepted his early resignation on July 20, 1977.
