Rainer Kampmann

Rainer Kampmann (born June 6, 1964 in Bochum ) is a German administration and media manager. He has been working in public broadcasting since 2005 .

Life

Kampmann grew up in Wattenscheid , where he also graduated from the Märkische Schule Wattenscheid in 1983 . After completing his commercial training, he studied economics , journalism and communication science at the Ruhr University in Bochum from 1985 to 1990 with a degree in economics . He then worked as a consultant in the area of ​​management / press and public relations for the former Rhineland Cooperative Association (now the Cooperative Association ). In 1993 he moved to Legden in the Munsterland community as a community director and head of administration . After an attempt by the CDU parliamentary group in the municipal council to prematurely elect him to full-time mayor in 1998 failed, he ran for mayor in Rhede / Borken district in 1999 . He narrowly lost to the local Green candidate , Lothar Mittag.

After brief employment in the private sector, he was elected city treasurer in Gelsenkirchen in early 2000 . His board area included finance, investments, real estate, fire brigade and waste management. After the local elections in autumn 2004, when the topic was the renovation of the Hans-Sachs-Haus , which he was in charge of as the responsible councilor for real estate, he switched to WDR in 2005 . There he headed the finance department for almost nine years.

At the suggestion of the then director of Radio Germany Willi Steul he moved 1 March 2014, succeeding Karin Brieden , who had taken a new job at the ZDF, the Germany radio . As administrative and operations director, he is responsible for the areas of administration and technology and is a regular deputy in absentia for the artistic director. On June 18, 2018, the broadcaster's board of directors unanimously approved his renewed appointment for the period until 2024 at the suggestion of director Stefan Raue, who has been in office since 2017 .

Rainer Kampmann is one of the deputy chairmen of the board of directors of the “ Contribution Service of ARD, ZDF and Deutschlandradio ”, formerly GEZ, and chairman of the supervisory board of Deutschlandradio Service GmbH (DRS), a subsidiary of Deutschlandradio.

Kampmann now lives in Cologne and Cuxhaven .
