Rainer Kensy from Echlin

Rainer Baron Kensy von Echlin (born July 25, 1961 in Speyer ) is a German agricultural economist and entrepreneur in the financial sector.

Kensy of Echlin's ancestors was first mentioned in 1296 with the lands of "those of Echline" in the parish of Dalmeny, West Lothian in Edinburghshire , Scotland . They subsequently immigrated to Ireland ("Irish line") and Lithuania (so-called "Scottish line"), and in the 18th and 19th centuries they did agriculture and forestry in East Prussia . As a result of the East Prussian Operation (1945) , his parents lost all their land and property and fled to West Germany . Kensy is the 13th Baron von Echlin and was born with the Norwegian Anne Elisabeth. Patterson married.

Career

Echlin attended high school at the Kaiserdom . After graduating from high school, he studied agricultural sciences and econometrics at the Christian-Albrechts-Universität Kiel and the Technische Universität Berlin . In 1983 he became active in the Kiel Corps Palaiomarchia-Masovia. In 1988 he was deputy local speaker of the KSCV for the Berlin Seniors' Convent (KSCV) . Later he recorded the tapes of the Corps Lusatia Leipzig (1985) and the Corps Masovia Königsberg zu Potsdam . He finished his studies as a Dipl.-Ing. agr. and Master of Science .

He completed a second degree in public finance at the Isenberg School of Management at the University of Massachusetts , from which he graduated with a Master of Business Administration . With a dissertation on Japanese corporate structures was he in 1994 at the St. Gallen University to Dr. oec. (HSG) PhD . He then worked in project management and portfolio management at the Caribbean Development Bank and Crédit Suisse in Barbados and Tokyo . He then took on tasks in the area of derivative structuring at Merrill Lynch Germany and Salomon Brothers in London . After working for Rothschild Bank (Zurich) , he managed subsidiaries of the RMF-MAN Investment Group . The UBS appointed him as Global Head Alternative Investments . As European Co Head he led in London, the asset management of Bear Stearns . A subsidiary of Hottinger & Compagnie elected him to the board of directors (Switzerland) . Since 2005 he has been a curriculum board member of the Chartered Alternative Investment Analyst Association . Since 2009 on the board of directors of Echlin AG, a single family office that previously held a stake in Echlin Inc. (NYSE: ECH) , and now retired, Kensy von Echlin is only involved - in Switzerland and the United Kingdom - in Advisory board of several hedge funds (Secquaero, Bainbridge), a multi-family office and an IT company that deals with IT security, prevention, detection and processing of economic crimes and anti-fraud management. In 2018 he completed the Senior Executive Program at the University of Oxford .

At Mensa International , Echlin is committed to research into intelligence and the recognition and promotion of gifted children. He sits on the advisory boards of philanthropic foundations in Switzerland and the USA . Since 2007 knight of honor (since 2018 legal knight) in the French cooperative of the Order of St. John , he coordinates the joint French-Swiss-German activities (currently mainly in Madagascar ). He supports the establishment of medical care in rural areas of Haiti and advises the Ministry of Economic Affairs and Finance and the state pension fund of the country.

Kensy von Echlin is also active as Chairman of the Administrative Board of the Save The Lake Foundation in East Africa. Since 2012 they have been working on an impact project, which efficiently frees Lake Victoria from vegetation so that the lake 'gives back' to the residents so that they can fish again and agriculture is supported by modifying and controlling the fermentation process of the perennial plants so that fertilizer for domestic agriculture is created from the plant waste, which is available for the local population and small industry. The aim is to give the local population permanent economic autonomy in this sense. Since 2015, the Save The Lake Foundation has been mandated to extensively restore the Nairobi Dam in Nairobi, both biologically and technically, which is a key problem for the Kibera settlement, the largest slum in East Africa.
