Rainer Krieg (born February 2, 1968 in Obersotzbach ) is a former soccer player and today's coach .
Player career
War began his professional career at Karlsruher SC. He played his first Bundesliga game on April 3, 1992, when he was substituted on in the 80th minute of the game against Dynamo Dresden on the 31st matchday . The striker scored his first goal in his third outing when he made it 2-0 in the away win at 1. FC Köln .
In the following season, war held a regular place and scored ten times. After he lost his regular place towards the end of the season and was mainly used as a joker in 1993/94 - although he has made 23 appearances this season, he was substituted on 17 times - he went to league competitor Bayer 05 Uerdingen .
There, however, the situation for war hardly improved and after a year and a half he moved on to the second division club SC Fortuna Köln during the winter break of the 1995/96 season . Here he became a regular player from the 1996/97 season and had two successful years in which he met 26 times.
In the summer of 1998, Krieg returned to Karlsruher SC, which is now a second division team itself. Here he became the club's top striker and scored 19 goals in the first year. The second year, coached by Joachim Löw and Edmund Becker , among others , was halfway successful for him with 15 goals, but the club ended the season behind in the table and had to relegate to the Regionalliga Süd .
War left the relegated team and went to the second division promoted 1. FC Saarbrücken . He contributed four goals when the club finished eighth. In the 2001/02 season he played two more games against 1. FC Schweinfurt 05 and his old employer Karlsruher SC before moving to Chemnitzer FC in the Regionalliga Nord . Here he played for two years and in 2003 he retired from active sports.
Coaching career
For the 2005 season, Krieg and his assistant coach Michael Wittwer , with whom he was once on the pitch at Karlsruher SC, were appointed supervisor of the second team, which was mainly filled with young players. With this he managed after a weak start to eleventh place and thus relegation in the third-class Regionalliga Süd. Some players, such as B. Florian Dick , made the leap into the first team. At the end of April 2009 he resigned shortly before the end of the season, his position was taken by the previous U19 coach Markus Kauczinski .
At the beginning of the 2009/10 season, Krieg became a coach at the fifth-class league club ASV Durlach . After the game on the penultimate matchday of the 2010/11 season, he resigned. The team, already relegated, lost 9-1 away at FC Nöttingen .
At the beginning of November 2011 he was introduced as the head coach of the sixth class association division club 1. CfR Pforzheim , where the collaboration ended in May 2012 after successful relegation. In January 2013 he became Michael Wittwer's assistant coach at FC Nöttingen .
Goal of the month
On August 15, 1992 he scored the 3-2 goal with an overhead kick in the game against Borussia Mönchengladbach . This hit was voted goal of the month . Curious: Krieg was only substituted on in the 65th minute, and he also scored the 4-2 final score.
Others
Since 2010 he has been playing alongside Raphael Krauss and Rainer Scharinger for the old men team of FC Unitas '71 Karlsruhe.
