Ralf-Peter Post (born March 7, 1967 in Norden ) is a German painter , figure and mask maker and filmmaker .

In January 1987, Post moved from East Frisia to Hanover as a freelance painter . From 1988 to 2014 he lived and worked in the formerly occupied administration building of the former Sprengel chocolate factory in Nordstadt .

In 1994, Post began working as a mask maker at the Scharniertheater Hannover under the direction of the founder Hans-Ulrich Buchwald . In 2001 he staged his mask theater piece tube ballet and brush punk at the Small Festival in the Great Garden , followed by other productions such as The Royal Game and Die Drahtwalds . Post took over the management and artistic direction of the hinge theater in Hanover from Buchwald.

Posts play The betrayed self premiered in 2007 in the cinema in the Sprengel in Hanover and in 2008 in the youth center in his hometown. The piece tells of a failed identity formation: "It is about one's own pain, which one cannot bear and which one has to inflict on others so that one does not have to deal with oneself."

For the film The Choreographer Stephan Thoss and Le Sacre du Printemps , Post 2006 accompanied the ballet director Stephan Thoss with the camera during the rehearsals for his last production at the Hanover State Opera . The documentary was first broadcast in 2007 on the ZDF theater channel.

The documentary film ... what brings you to life - the artist Hans-Ulrich Buchwald , which premiered shortly after the protagonist's death in the cinema in the Sprengel, was created in 2009 from the close collaboration with Hans-Ulrich Buchwald in the Scharniertheater . With the documentary Sprengel - a piece of land of milk and honey , Post traced the eventful past and present of the Sprengel housing project. In 2013 he created the artist portrait The painter Hildegard Peters about the 1923 born art teacher and painter from his hometown Norden.

In 2018 the documentary was created about the total artist Timm Ulrichs , who has been provoking the art world since the early 1960s.

Post presented his works on canvas and paper in 2007 in the Künstlerhaus Hannover and in 2013 in the Hanoverian gallery Bei Koc . He is a member of the Federal Association of Visual Artists .
