biography

After starting at FIS races , Burtin started in the European Cup from December 1995 . In the 1999/2000 European Cup season , he achieved four wins and two second places in the giant slalom. With this he won the giant slalom ranking and achieved fifth place in the overall ranking.

The Frenchman had his first start in the World Cup on January 14, 1997 in the giant slalom in Adelboden, where he did not qualify for the second round. The next World Cup appearance took place on October 25, 1998. In the giant slalom in Sölden , he reached 27th place and scored his first World Cup points. This season, Burtin also played his only two Super-Gs in the World Cup, but without being able to score. In January 1999 Burtin already reached 13th place in the giant slalom in Adelboden and came in 10th place as the best Frenchman at the 1999 World Championships in Vail - this was his only participation in the World Cup. On February 26, 2000, he finished ninth in the giant slalom in Yongpyong and thus achieved his first and only World Cup placement among the top ten. He did not come close to this result in the next five years.

At the beginning of the 2004/05 season , Burtin fell in the giant slalom in Sölden and tore a cruciate ligament in his right knee. As a result, he could not contest any more races this winter. After his injury break he got three eleventh places in the 2005/06 season and he finished 20th in the Giant Slalom World Cup. At the 2006 Olympic Games in Turin , he finished in 21st place. On December 8, 2007, Burtin had another serious fall in Bad Kleinkirchheim and suffered several broken ribs and injuries in his knee, which meant that the season ended prematurely. In the 2008/09 season he could not bring in any more World Cup points. With the start at the French Championships in March 2009, Burtin ended his career.
