Council for Innovation and Growth

The Council for Innovation and Growth was an informal advisory body for Chancellor Angela Merkel on all innovation issues. It existed from May 24, 2006 to April 28, 2008 and was the successor to the Partners for Innovation committee that Gerhard Schröder brought into being.

A new advisory structure was discussed at its last meeting. The federal ministries BMBF and BMWi are to work with Acatech to develop a concept proposal for a new advisory structure for the federal government.

The 13 members were appointed by the Federal Chancellor. Heinrich von Pierer headed the council, which included leading personalities from business and science . It did not meet publicly in four working groups:

  • Patents
  • Business start-ups
  • Middle class
  • Exchange process (what is meant is the networking of business, science and the state )
