Henning Kagermann (born July 12, 1947 in Braunschweig ) is a German physicist and manager .

Life

Henning Kagermann studied physics at the Technical University of Munich . After graduating in 1972, he moved to the Technical University of Braunschweig as a doctoral student , where he received his doctorate in 1975 and completed his habilitation in theoretical physics in 1980 . The TU Braunschweig appointed Kagermann as adjunct professor for theoretical physics.

Kagermann is a father of three.

Professional background

From 1982 he was responsible for the cost accounting and project controlling development departments at the Walldorf-based software company SAP GmbH. In 1991 he was appointed to the management board of SAP AG , which has since become a stock corporation . When SAP co-founder Hasso Plattner moved to the supervisory board in May 2003 , Kagermann became the sole spokesman for the board. He left SAP at the end of May 2009.

From 2009 to 2018 Kagermann was President of Acatech , the German Academy of Science and Engineering. Kagermann is also a member of the supervisory boards of KUKA AG , Deutsche Bank , Deutsche Post and Munich Re .

On May 3, 2010, Kagermann took over the management of the National Platform for Electric Mobility . The network is made up of industry representatives, politicians and scientists and is supposed to coordinate the development of electric cars in Germany.

In October 2012, under the chairmanship of Henning Kagermann, the Federal Government received recommendations for implementation from the Industry 4.0 working group of the Research Union's Communication Promotion Group. In this area, he is considered to be one of the leading representatives of the vision of Industry 4.0 in Germany .

Kagermann heads the steering committee of the “Innovation Dialogue” between the federal government, business and science. From 2010 to 2013 he was also the spokesman for the communication promoter group of the Research Union for Industry and Science (Federal Ministry of Education and Research) for the further development of the High-Tech Strategy 2020 .

Kagermann has been a member of the Hightech Forum since the beginning of 2015 and was the spokesman for the “Autonomous Systems” specialist forum, the final report of which was published in March 2017. On the basis of this initiative, the platform learning systems was created, which is headed by Federal Minister Anja Karliczek ( Federal Ministry of Education and Research ) and Dieter Spath (President of the German Academy of Science and Engineering ).

On April 9, 2015, Kagermann was appointed as a member of the IG Metall “Future of Work” advisory board on the basis of his contribution to Industry 4.0 .
