The Ratak chain is a chain of islands in the east of the territory of the Marshall Islands . The word Ratak , which comes from the Micronesian language , means "sunrise" (east). Many of the islets that make up the atolls are uninhabited. About 34,000 people live on the islands of the group. The Ratak chain also includes the Majuro Atoll with the capital of the Marshall Islands, on which more than half of the total population lives.

The Ratak chain consists of the isolated, i.e. not belonging to atolls, single islands Jemo and Mejit from the following atolls:
