Mili (German outdated: Mulgraveinseln ) is an atoll of 92 islands in the Ratak chain in the Pacific Ocean . Administratively it belongs to the Marshall Islands .

The land area is 16 km², the area of the lagoon 763 km². The largest town is also called Mili. Mili is littered with relics from the Second World War (bunkers, railway lines, artillery, aircraft). There are still some Japanese Zeros and an American B-25 bomber there. The island is still covered in craters from a 30-day bombardment that preceded the Allied invasion in 1944. The island was occupied by Japan from 1914 to 1944 . Other localities on Mili are Nallu, Enejet, Lukonor, Tokewa, and Wau. Nallu, Enejet and Lukonwor can only be reached from Mili at low tide. Mili and Enejet have small airfields.

In 2002 the population was 854. The atoll is separated from the smaller Knox Atoll by a canal, the Klee Passage .

The Globe Mutiny

1823 was the whaler Globe from Martha's Vineyard brought by his mutinous crew under Samuel B. Comstock by Mili, after he had killed the captain and three officers. A few days after landing, Comstock was murdered by his fellow mutineer, Silas Payne. Six crew members then fled by ship and left nine sailors on the island. By the time a rescue ship (the Dolphin clipper ) reached the island two years later, seven of them had been killed by locals.
