Namu is an atoll in the Ralik chain of the Marshall Islands . The atoll has a land area of 6.27 km², which encloses a lagoon of 397.12 km². The next atoll, Ailinglapalap , is 40 km southeast.
Pandanus trees, coconut palms , breadfruit trees , bananas and pumpkins grow on the atoll .
The inhabitants live from fishing, tourism and the production of copra .
The atoll had 801 inhabitants in 1999.
