The former town hall of Heinrichs , today it serves as a local museum and adult education center , is in Meininger Straße 89 von Heinrichs , a district of Suhl in southern Thuringia .

The massive , plastered ground floor , decorated with corner stones , was built in 1551 according to the inscription . The gable-facing building was given two upper floors of visible half-timbering in 1657 . The half-timbering on the gable side has curved St. Andrew's crosses , that of the eaves side has struts and transoms . The Ratskeller is located on the ground floor and the hall for the city ​​council has been restored on the first floor . The second floor was originally the dance floor , which was converted into apartments in 1922 .

In the 1978 postage stamp from the GDR Deutsche Post , a special stamp was issued as part of the half-timbered buildings in the GDR series with a face value of 10 Pfennig . In 1994 the Deutsche Bundespost issued a definitive stamp with the motif as part of the Sights series with a face value of 5.50 Deutsche Mark .
