The Rauhekopf even Rough head called between Benfe and Walpersdorf in North Rhine-Westphalia Siegen-Wittgenstein is 640.7  m above sea level. NHN high mountain in the Rothaar Mountains .

The Rauhe Kopf rises in the southern part of the Rothaargebirge in the Sauerland-Rothaargebirge Nature Park . Its summit is 1.8 km southwest of Waldheim ( near Benfe ), 2.2 km north of Walpersdorf ( Netphen ) and 1.7 km (as the crow flies ) southeast of the Hohenroth forest house (near Netphen). The south-eastern neighbor of the mountain is the Aukopf ( 644.9  m ) , located near the Siegquelle , and to the north-westerly a nameless knoll near the Hohenroth forest house ( 655  m ).

Natural allocation

The Rauhe Kopf belongs to the natural spatial main unit group Süderbergland (No. 33), in the main unit Rothaargebirge (with Hochsauerland ) (333) and in the subunit Dill-Lahn-Eder source area (333.0) to the natural area Ederkopf-Lahnkopf-Ridge (333.01) .

Rhine-Weser watershed and flowing waters

The Rhine-Weser watershed runs over the Rauhen Kopf . The south-east flowing Kütschenlangenbach , which flows into the Sieg above Walpersdorf, rises on its western slope . The source of the Benfe , which is a tributary of the Eder and thus belongs to the Weser river system, is located on the transition area to a nameless knoll near the Hohenroth forest house .

Traffic and walking

Over the northeast slope of the Rauhen Kopf leads from Lützel (to Hilchenbach ) past the mountain and to the Siegquelle, the state road  722 running to Lahnhof (to Nenkersdorf ) at the Lahnquelle . It runs in the mountain region as part of the iron road of the Rothaargebirge , a former trade and trunk road.
