Ravelo is a town in the Potosí department in the South American Andean state of Bolivia .
Location in the vicinity
Ravelo is the central place of the canton Ravelo in the district ( Bolivian : Municipio ) Ravelo in the province Chayanta . The village is located at an altitude of 3232 m on the right bank of the Río Ravelo , which is called " Río Roque " downstream and flows to the Río Pilcomayo .

Ravelo is east of the Altiplano in the Bolivian Cordillera Central . The climate is a moderate altitude climate and a typical time of day climate , in which the average temperature fluctuation is greater during the day than during the year.

Ravelo lies at a distance of 229 kilometers by road north of Potosí , the capital of the department.
The 898-kilometer Ruta 5 highway runs through Potosí and crosses the Bolivian Altiplano from southwest to northeast. From Potosí it leads via Betanzos , Millares and Yotala to Sucre and on through the department of Cochabamba into the lowland department of Santa Cruz .
In Sucre, the highway crosses Route 6 , which reaches Ravelo sixty kilometers further north and continues to Oruro via Uncía and Llallagua .

Due to the historically grown population development, the region has a high proportion of Quechua population, in the municipality of Ravelo 79 percent of the population speak the Quechua language.
