Kim Won-sik ( kor . 김원식, born February 15, 1993 ) better known as Ravi ( kor . 라비) is a South Korean rapper , songwriter , producer and model who is under contract with Jellyfish Entertainment . He is a member of the South Korean boy group VIXX and its subgroup VIXX LR .

Life

2012–2013: Debut with VIXX and composition

Ravi was one of ten apprentices who were voted into the Mnet reality show MyDOL , and ultimately became part of the final line-up of the new boy group VIXX. The group had " Super Hero " on May 24, 2012 on M! Countdown her debut. During MyDOL he was featured in Brian Joo's music video for "Let This Die" and Seo In-guk's music video for "Shake It Up" . He was involved in the lyrics of VIXX's debut single.

In 2013 he was seen together with his group members in episode 4 of the SBS TV drama The Heirs .

2014–2015: Collaborations and debut with subgroup: VIXX LR

In 2014 Ravi worked with the American musician Chad Future on the song "Rock the World" from Future’s first mini-album. Ravi also appeared in the music video for the single.

In 2015 he became a candidate for the Mnet TV rap competition Show Me the Money 4 , but was eliminated in the second round. Ravi was heard in the Chinese song "Diamond Love" by the South Korean singer Rain , from the soundtrack of the Chinese drama Diamond Lover (克拉 戀人) .

On August 7, 2015, Jellyfish Entertainment released a video trailer on the official VIXX website. There was a mysterious countdown with the silhouette of the last album Boys' Record . When the time ran out, the VIXX members disappeared until finally only Leo and Ravi could be seen. This led fans to suspect that it would mean another comeback for all 6 members. The VIXX LR video trailer was then released.

Jellyfish Entertainment confirmed that VIXX LR is the first subgroup of VIXX, consisting of rapper Ravi and singer Leo . They made their debut with the mini-album Beautiful Liar , which was released on August 17, 2015. On the same day they made their first appearance with Beautiful Liar at Yes24 Muv Hall in Mapo-gu , Seoul .

In December 2015 Ravi was in a collaboration with the girl group Melody Day on the single "When It Rains" ( kor . 비가 내리면), as part of their winter project.

On December 31, 2015, Ravi posted a teaser on his Twitter and Instagram account for his first own mixtape [R.EBIRTH] , which he composed, written and produced himself.

2016-today: Solo debut with [R.EBIRTH] and DamnRa

On January 4th, 2016 Ravi made his first pre-release for his mixtape [R.EBIRTH] with the track "Where Should I Go" in collaboration with Microdot. The second pre-release "OX" , which was recorded in a collaboration with Basick , the winner of Show Me the Money 4 , was released on January 20, 2016. The third pre-release "Good Girls" ( kor . 착한 여자) featuring Hanhae and Soulman released on February 4, 2016. The fourth and final pre-release "Move" was released on February 22nd, 2016. All pre- releases were released from the VIXX YouTube channel and on Ravi's Soundcloud account. On March 4, 2016, the tack list appeared on Ravi's Instagram account. The full version of [R.EBIRTH] was published on March 12, 2016 and is freely available on Soundcloud and Youtube. To celebrate the release of [R.EBIRTH] , he presented an event entitled Ravi's 1st Live Party [R.EBIRTH] on March 19 and 20, 2016 , at the Hyundai Card Understage in Seoul . With him on stage were among others the rappers Basick and EsBee , and the DJ and producer SAM & SP3CK . His band colleagues were guests at the event.

On July 14th, 2016 Ravi took part in Jellyfish Entertainment's new music channel project JellyBox and released the single "DamnRa" together with SAM & SP3CK in the form of a music video.

With the release of Kratos in October 2016, Ravi was involved in the lyrics and composition of over 46 songs for VIXX.

In 2017 his first mini album R.EAL1ZE followed with the lead single “BOMB”.

In July 2018 it was announced that Ravi will start his first solo tour in Europe in October 2018. Performances are planned in 10 cities: Istanbul , Madrid , Vienna , Amsterdam , Brussels , Cologne , Bucharest , Warsaw , London and Paris .
