Ray Nkonyeni ( Ray Nkonyeni Local Municipality ) is a municipality founded in 2016 in the South African province of KwaZulu-Natal . It belongs to the Ugu district and originated from the parishes of Ezinqoleni and Hibiscus Coast .

The administrative seat of the parish is Port Shepstone . In 2011, 308,675 people lived in the area on an area of ​​1487 square kilometers.

The community is named after the anti- apartheid fighter Ray Nkonyeni, who lived in the area and died in 1999.
